Some of the dates you should know while planning your trip and while you are in USA when most of the shops and places are closed. The follwing are only some of the holidays which may affect your trip. Everything is closed especially on thanksgiving and Chirstmas. So, keep in mind while making your plans to go shopping or site seeing.

Time Zones

The United States is larger geographically than India and it is spread across various time zones.  There are four main time zones, they are Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific in step of one hour.  When you pass across these time zones to the west, time in the clock will read one hour earlier.

Shopping hours

Departmental stores are opened 24 hours a day. Shopping Malls generally open at 10:00am and close down at 9:00pm. On weekends and on holidays, these timings may change. Generally, on weekends malls close down at 6:00pm.

If you plan to shop clothes, shoes etc. you should know that sizes are different in USA as compared to India. The American system of sizes and measurement is different from  that  in  India. Even the distance is measured in miles, not in kilometers!! Gas (Petrol) prices you will find per gallon and not per liter! So, get to know all the conversions.

Temperature:

Everywhere in USA you will see temperature in Fahrenheit. So, if you are shivering and wondering that the temperature is 30 degrees, it shouldn't be so cold....well, the temperature is in Fahrenheit and if you convert it to centigrade the temperature is around 0 deg!!
